SERVICE DEPARTMENT

Service is what Centerport Cycles is all about. I only sell bikes by special order and I don't stock much in the way of parts or accessories. That leaves service as the reason why I'm in business. Centerport Cycles is a one man shop. If you bring your bike here, I (Jamie Swan) am the one who is going to do the work.

I am happy to work on any type of bike. Flat tires and repairs on neighborhood bikes comprises a significant part of my business. I am also quite capable when it comes to servicing enthusiast bikes and have many dedicated customers.

My customer base is geographically pretty big. If it is difficult for you to get here I am happy to set up an appointment so that I can service your bike while you wait.

WHEEL BUILDING - If you read my history page you know that I spent over 13 years as a commercial wheel builder before I opened Centerport Cycles. During that time I tensioned and trued over 400,000 wheels. In my 30 plus years in the bike industry I have built wheels for thousands of competative cyclists including wheels that were used to win State and National Championships as well as wheels that were ridden in the Olympics.

I have a Phil Wood spoke machine as well as a Wheelsmith spoke calculator so that I can custom make any length spoke that you need.

FITTING - I have performed hundreds of bike fittings and cured countless comfort problems. If you are not comfortable on your bike or you are not sure that your position is correct I'd be happy to set up an appointment to go over your fit.

FRAME ALIGNMENT & REPAIR - I have an 800lb cast iron alignment table with all the necessary fixtures to check and correct frame alignment . I also have a Campagnolo tool kit as well all as many other specialty tools to address and solve any problem that your frame might have.

MACHINE SHOP SERVICE - I have a complete machine shop at home. I can make or modify parts as necessary to complete jobs that would otherwise be impossible.

TOUGH JOBS - I regularly resolve problems that other bike shops can't. In fact, quite a few high profile "pro-shops" come to me with their problem jobs.

CUSTOM FRAME BUILDING - I built my first bicycle frame in 1981, and over the years I have built many frames for my own use. Now I am building custom frames for my customers. I specialize in traditionally styled steel bike frames using modern state of the art materials. I will be putting up a page with all the details.
